“Máster interdisciplinar”
Nerea R
Spain, Graduate
European Studies, 2021
Overall

I wish I had known...
The system is very much bureaucratic even at university, where they have a special office for exchange students. It takes a lot of effort, time and patient to get something arranged.

one has to be prepared for unexpected expenses. And in case of difficulties you are on your own, you have plenty of friends but especially in the beginning you can't turn to a good friend or family.

Try to use spanish travel agencies.Travelling around Madrid is very easy and cheap, with a lot of possibilities.
I found my appartment through a newspaper called segundamano (second hand) where there is a big offer for flats and appartments. It is very important to look for it before september, because the spanish students always do it in summer, and after it is almost imposible or very expensive. If you don´t have the possibility to come in summer, just do it by internet: www.segundamano.es (I did it so)

Take a public transport abonnement as quickly as you can-saves a lot of money. Do not pay more than 300.-euro rent a month. Try and travel round spain going to the cities for fallas a special fiesta, which is held throughout spain!
