Course recommendations
The educational system and queality of the courses in the Universidad Complutense si quite dissapointing, for what I have seen. The best therefore would be to take classes one is really interested in and try to escape the "Troncales" or "Obligatorias" which tend to be the less interesting ones.

Personal comments
The teachers and students tend to be focused on the exams, and much of the work is memorising. I would suggest to put in some more reasoning and practical works, in order to interest and give a better fomation to the students.

Personal comments
Having had studied for 4 years Spanish in highschool , when I arrived, I did understand much of what was being said. But the big problem was tot try to express myself. Hopefully, I lived with Spanish speakers and did not meet any French-speakers , which "condemed" me to speak it at all moments of the day. After a few months, thanks to these 2 factors and the classes being carried out in Spanish, I got much at ease in this language. It has been a wonderful experience to learn a language in this way.

I wish I had known...
I wish I knew that the constituents of the city of Madrid are not nearly as open-minded as they are proclaimed to be and that racism and prejudice towards people of color run rampant in that city, especially amongst the natives (not so much the cultured/non-native locals).

Invest in a travel book to review prospective cities for travel, overprepare as far as money is concerned, people of color should beware of the prejudice but not let it ruin their experience, and remain open-minded.

Overall
La Complutense en su Facultad de Políticas es un espacio donde existe bastante libertad a la hora de aprender, crecer y debatir. No obstante, algunos programas de cierto tipo de estudio están quedando obsoletos.
