Don't travel too much. Building up friendships in Sweden takes time and patience, so you should be where your classmates are.

Scharinska is the place to go if you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. Pubs are hard to find for people under 23, but don't forget Ekonompuben.

there are more and more private rooms in Umea. Cheaper and in many cases a very easy-going alternative. Another plus is you can always sleep at night. Got the room via an ad in the local newspaper Västerbottens-Kuriren.
