All exchange students of my university lived close together in a student village near by the university. I had an own bathroom with shower/toilet and an own fridge in my room, the kitchen was shared.

I participated in a basic course for Finnish for foreigners and it was funny. At least, I could speak a little bit after this course. I had no problems with English, as it is well spoken almost everywhere in Finland and my knowledge is good.

In Finland almost everybody speaks english, so it is not a problem at all to communicate with the people. But it is still good and interesting to learn at least basic phrases in the local language.
