Going to Israel I did not manage to improve my hebrew because so many people from all over the world were there and we either spoke english or french.
A great place to start understanding the Middle East. Very warm people but tough on the outside.

On the whole the experience was a great one. The city is, of course, constantly vibrant and dynamic, and despite the dangers that are ever present, they are often unseeable on a day to day basis.

First of all, the city of Jerusalem is like a microcosm of entire state of Israel.
The experience of studying among people from so many cultures is one of a life time.
I found the university's standards high, and the overall quality of the teaching have met my satisfaction.
Great place to get wiser.
Good luck!

If you want to meet and interact with Israelis, avoid living on campus during the summer, since most local students are on vacation.

Very respectable university. Good language ulpan program. They have a school/center for international students, so very well set up for any problems you might have. They plan a multitude of field trips/ travel opportunities for students, for a very reasonable cost. Take advantage of these. Interaction between native students and international students is not very good.

Read about the culture and especially safety tips about living in Israel. For modern Israeli culture might want to read a book called: "Culture Shock, Israel".
