Nightlife is unfortunately very expensive in Stockholm. There are plenty of clubs and pubs.. but the entrance fees are high.. and some clubs require you to be at least 23 or sometimes 25 years of age. It depends on your musical tastes where you should go. I enjoyed a club called "Medusa" in Gamla Stan, Stockholm.. as well as a club called "Bonden Bar" in Sodermalm, Stockholm. These are small clubs that play a variety of music. The best places to go if you don't want to spend a lot of money, however, are University pubs on campus.

There are many nearby interesting places to travel to from Stockholm. (Helsinki Finland, Tallinn Estonia, Russia, England, Denmark, Norway) You can save money on travel easily by staying in hostels, cooking your own food, last minute discount travel, charter flights.. etc.

It's very easy to only speak english in sweden. The swedes (and other international students) always want to practice their english. As an american, you have to make a real effort *not* to speak english, and work on your swedish, instead.
