Best area to go out and party or just grab a drink is Juan Les Pins. Do not miss the carnival in Nice at the beginning of February.

Pourquoi?

The residence-Couleur Soleil had great location. It was in the center of Juan les Pins, it was minutes from the bus stop which took you to school. And best of all, almost all exchange students stay in this residence.

I chose to go to France in the hopes of improving my level of French. When making friends with local French students it is very easy to not practice your friend do to the fact that most of the french students want to practice their english with you. You must force yourself into situations where there is no choice but to speak french.

Get involved. The best way to meet local students and to fully integrate is to join an association or sports team. The academic life is quite easy, but if you have time, gather information about internships available through the school

Nightlife is extremely expensive on the Cote D'Azur so expect to spend at least 40-50 euro a week on socail activities. Housing was 250 euro a month. Traval was more expensive because I chose to travel around France and the rest of europe. This included paying hostels and buying a eurorail pass for $800.

You have a security deposit for the apartment. All the parties which you attend through school are quite expensive.About 20 euro a week minimum.School books are expensive.

Si j'avais su

I would have applied for an internship for the summer months, after the semester was over. I wish I would have known about joining an association at school before coming. I also wish I would have known how expensive life on the Cote D'Azur was.

This university is great when it comes to qualitfied interesting professors. The teachers at CERAM come from very interesting backgrounds and have a lot to say. The curriculum isnt rigid and neither are the exams, but make sure to take classes that interest you, not only those that seem easy.

Try to arrive a few days early. Speak to someone who has gone before you, and try to get in contact with a french student at CERAM before arrival so that you can integrate as soon as you arrive. Be careful of your reputation, it is a small school. Concentrate on building life long frienships, don't focus on getting to know everybody. Nurture the friendships you make with local as well as other exchange students.They may last a life time.
