Type of housing: on campus - International House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: International House
Why?
This is the place to stay to meet other international students. Met over 80 people from over 40 countries. fantastic time to be had - plenty of activites - like a big family house.

Personal comments
I stayed both on campus in the dorms (for 2 weeks) and international house. If you are interested in meeting other international students this is the place to be. I found the people in the dorms to be quite reserved, and spent too much time studying. As international students your priority is to have fun!

Personal comments
on tuesday nights - coffee night at international house. Great way to meet lots of new people. In terms of the city itself - if you are after nightlife go to san francisco - but its not too bad. People organise parties in/near international house.

Overall
I wish I had known...
Possibly take more money. Apart from that it was extremely enjoyable - apply for housing as soon as you can as it is extremely hard to get. apply to both international house and also dorms - but dont go to joe west - its like an office building.

Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
If you would like to meet other international students in a great environment, this is a great place to go. It is safe, has great weather, and people seem friendly. I would say that the international house was probably the thing that made this trip the more memorable.

Experienced a change in life

Final comments
take some money, go to san francisco alot, explore the bay area, meet lots of other international students and have fun. I think international students here tended to have more fun than the american students - maybe because we werent as concerned with study!

Academic
Course recommendations
Courses i found were slighly easier than home. You dont need to spend too much time on it - just keep up with the work and you will do fine. I had more assignments, constant assessment than at home.

no need to worry - you are there to have fun - dont worry about being too serious about study! the only advice i would have is to keep up with work in the subjects that have constant assessment.
