Personal recommendation
Try to spend at least 9 months there. Otherwise you won't be able to get involved into the place, the people, the language...Americans are not too open to newcomers, so making REAL good friends takes its time.

Strong academics with excellent research and career exposure
Shanmukha S
United States, Graduate
Informatics, 2027
Overall
My experience at Rutgers University has been very positive. The courses are well-structured and emphasize both theory and practical application, particularly in computer science, data analytics, and health informatics. Professors are knowledgeable, approachable, and actively involved in research, which creates opportunities for students to participate in meaningful, real-world projects.

The student community is diverse and collaborative, with many opportunities to learn from peers with different academic and cultural backgrounds. Campus resources, including libraries, research labs, and academic support services, are excellent. Student life is active, with numerous clubs, professional organizations, and networking events that support both academic and personal growth.

Overall, Rutgers provides a strong foundation for students aiming for research-oriented careers or industry roles in technology and healthcare..

Careers
The career services office is helpful and provides access to resume reviews, career advising, job postings, and networking events. Rutgers regularly hosts career fairs and employer information sessions, including opportunities related to internships and research positions. While students are encouraged to be proactive, the resources and guidance available are valuable, especially for students seeking internships, research roles, or industry exposure. I found internship opportunities through a combination of career fairs, faculty guidance, and external applications.
