International University with a focus on applied sciences
Maksims V
Luxembourg, Graduate
Business Studies, 2018
Overall
One of the biggest advantages of RISEBA, in my opinion, is the fact that it is an International university. It offers not only studies in local languages, but also in English, meaning students all over the world have the opportunity to receive a European Education in a seemingly small country of Latvia. The attitude towards students is very professional.
RISEBA is focused on applied sciences. That allows newfound students, to study business field from many sides, pushing them closer to understanding the specific areas of business that they would like engage in, in the future. Thesis papers in RISEBA are very structured and teach students how to conduct scientific researches and become proficient at them.
There is also a business incubator in the university, for students who would like to turn their ideas into reality and try themselves in business firsthand.
The student life is not overly demanding, the teachers are proficient at what they teach and RISEBA organizes lots of lectures and seminars with foreign lecturers and professors from universities and businesses all over the world. The university also assists students in finding a good place for internships.

I wish I had known...
Riga is not a very safe place to be. I could have known more about the area of my hostel as that part of the city was the most dangerous one, I found out after. Everything else was great.

Latvia and Riga is very amazing place because of the mixture of russian and latvian cultures and people and language. For me that was the main reason to choose Riga, to experience something else than a typical Western Europe.

That was a really cool experience! But all the Erasmu students had toubles with the Erasmus coordinator, she was helpful at all. Otherwise the life there is really cool, the city is small so it's very easy to meet new people, the life is also very cheap and travalling cost almost nothing

It is a place where you will have to do most of the work on your own. Nobody is going to babysit or force you to study. Everything depends only on your enthusiasm and will to learn. However, the facility is very pleasing and many courses are interesting.
