QUT Online vs QUT
Ashlee
Australia, Graduate
, 2023
Overall
Before studying with QUT Online, be aware it's separate from QUT.
Read this article: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/mar/07/no-actual-teaching-alarm-bells-over-online-courses-outsourced-by-australian-universities

I enrolled with QUT Online and found the support, teaching materials, and "Learning Advisors" to be horrible. In one of the courses the "Learning Advisor" couldn't even give us answers to practice questions in our learning material. The content we studied vs the content in the exam were completely different, a majority of students complained to the student ombudsman.
This was just my experience with this particular course, i'm hoping other area's aren't as dodgy. I spent thousands of dollars on these units and I feel as though I've been ripped off. Think twice before enrolling with QUT online.

Pros
This is the only University that offers a Graduate Diploma in IT (Business Analysis)
Cons
Everything with online studying! Employ learning advisors that actually know the content and improve the learning material.

Disappointed with Lack of Support After Completing Graduate Certificate
Neetika M
Australia, Other courses
, 2024
Overall
I completed the Graduate Certificate in Domestic and Family Violence Responses at QUT in 2024. There’s no help with gaining experience or finding work. Employers ask for paid experience, but QUT offers no placements or training. The course was promoted as a career pathway, but the support after finishing is very poor.

Careers
The QUT Careers Office provided little to no help after I completed my Graduate Certificate in Domestic and Family Violence Responses. They offered no guidance for gaining experience or finding jobs in the field. I expected more practical support and advice, especially for students entering a competitive area like community services.

Pros
• The course content was informative and relevant.  • Flexible online learning options were available.
Cons
• No practical placements or training support.  • No help from the careers office in finding jobs.  • Employers ask for paid experience, which the course doesn’t help you get.  • Misleading expectations during course promotion.

Master of Education
Coops
Australia, Graduate
, 2019
Overall
This is a course that I am unable to recommend. Course progression is not unified. Minimal feedback on assignments, some staff do not follow up on feedback, some subjects with belated and overly complicated assessment guides when there are no model assessments. The LMS is not updated from previous and now changed assessments. One class had over 130 students, so there was no real interaction online with the lecturer, but we were directed to introduce ourselves. Time wasting exercise and not best practice. Not allocated a tutor in the field of your study. As far as I am aware there are no Indigenous lecturers attached to the MEd. This is a problem.
