Overall
I wish I had known...
If I came back to the Erasmus experience nowaday, I would enjoy it even much more, I'm sure. In any case, my experience in Milan was one of the best in my life, if not the best. Nowadays I live and work in Madrid, and I have a lot of foreign friends here. So I have taken the Erasmus with me from Milan and now it is a way of living that I can enjoy in such a big city as Madrid (Spain).

Personal recommendation
It is a good University, but you have to manage lots of thing by yourself, what is not bad at all. Simply you have to keep this in your mind, accept and enjoy the challenge.

Honest review of a foreigner at Polimi
Arjun B
Italy, Graduate
Materials Science, 2021
Overall
Pursuing a master degree in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology can be hard. Polimi makes you work a bit too hard. The courses are very theoretical, so you better come prepared for those written examinations. In fact, come prepared for the oral exams too, especially practice being calm while speaking in an examination. The professors here are so used to seeing thousands of us, they almost function on auto pilot.
The student life is what you make of it. If you enjoy a quite night in with a laptop or a book, that's great. If you think you can go out and make friends with people from a whole different cultural background, do it, because you might never get the opportunity again. Doing the latter will help you learn Italian, whether you like it or not

Pros
Located in a good area of Milan, offers exchange programs, offers multiple attempts to pass exams, can build a connection with a professor to try and intern during studies
Cons
Too theoretical, exams can be a bit degrading, not much interaction in a classroom environment
