In the beginning when I did not speak any Russian it was difficult to do something, the moment you tried to speak the language the locals were more open to help you.

I loved the Cafe Pushkin and "Eat and Talk" downtown. Also go to the theatre! Tickets for students are extremely cheap. Do not miss the opera.
