As soon as you arrive you should structure your time in order to maximise it. So find out what is wanted from your courses and when you are free. Then search online for good travel deals and go everywhere in the Asia-Pacific region that you have time to go to.

Why?
Because you can find better location and higher living accomodation once you have made your friends here. You live on campus because its cheap and to make friends.
