I speak French fluently so it was alright. However, some teachers do speak quite fast but due to the fact that there are also French native speaker, French classes and friendly people around I don't think it's much of a problem. Besides, the first few weeks are going to be difficult everywhere.

The language is a major part of the experience. The aim of the course is to be bilingual (French/English) by the end of the two years spent here. Being immersed in the language and the culture is definitely an advantage in learning a foreign language.
