Overall
I wish I had known...
I wish I knew more about traveling BEFORE I came out here so I could have traveled more in the beginning rather than just sit around.

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Fairly, but I would recommend living in the city, or going to the University of Melbourne. Monash is in the middle of nowhere.

Bring as much money as you possibly can and spend every cent. Travel and meet everyone. Don't leave with any regrets.

Although the US dollar is worth more in Australia - there was more that I wanted to see and do while I was here. Traveling is a must once your here because the country is so beautiful and I don't know when I will get a chance to come back. I am more concerned with my studies in the US which do not give me much time to study!! Its a once and a lifetime opportunity so I wasn't concerned with money!!

Open an account with the National Australia Bank and have money wired. THere is no fee and no minimal balance required. This way you are not charged for the ATM services. Food is also purchased with cash a la carte - there are NO food plans which can add up!

Lygon Street is fabulous!! It's considered Little Italy and it has heaps of great restaurants, cafes, and pubs. CHAPEL street is a MUST for shopping! Chadstone mall is also the largest mall in this hemisphere! THe Notting Hill Bar is a univesity hang-out!! The VIctorian Market it also great!! Try to travel to the Grampians to rock climb and the Great Ocean Road is unbelievable. But the Penguin Parade in Phillip Island is over-rated!!

The exchange rate was in my favor. And the more room mates, the better!
