“Renommierte Uni, in der Realität mittelmäßig organisiert”

Valoración global
Sehr große Kurse (in BWL), die Lehre ist solide, die technische Ausstattung in Ordnung, könnte vielleicht an manchen stellen besser sein.

La oficina de carreras
Es gibt eine Praktikumswebsite der Universität, die aber weniger hilfreich ist als die offiziellen Praktikumsportale. Auch finden in der Uni selbst Karrieremesse statt, die jedoch nicht schnell zu praktika führen.

In general man stressed the Munich-exchange students with the horrible Bavarian dialect so that we thought we wouldn´t understand a word they say there, but that is not true. The people in the city Munich don´t speak dialect although it is the capital of Bavaria.

Munich is in the center of Europe so travelling is a must. The city is really beautiful too. Very high rents.

Idiomas
Comentario personal
Well, there were many courses conducted in English. I guess it was because i major in English Literature.
Also, i had no difficulty in everyday life because people in germany seem to be fluent in English, especially students. So in restaurants, clubs, and classes, it had no problem.
Nonetheless, there were a few cases in which i had to speak only German and at that time, i struggled a bit.
I chose to study in Germany to learn German that i took some courses in German at the university and i also attended extra german course in an institution. Now, i guess my german became a lot better.

Alojamiento
Tipo de alojamiento: "Wohnheim"
Organizado por: Universidad de intercambio
Si volviera, eligiría: Piso o apartamento
¿Por qué?
On campus - there is no real campus.
With family - no way. I want my own place.
Room Exchange - dont really know what this means...

Comentario personal
Rooms organized by the "Studentenwerk" are very cheap. Normal apartments cost at least the double - however, there are not enough student rooms/apartments. Not even enough for the exchange students.
What I found bad was that most student rooms do not have internet connections. Now they are installing LAN's in some Wohnheims, but not in all of them. Where I come from we've had a 10Mbit connections to the university for something like 5 years...

The LMU is still quite old-fashioned with faculties that never work together, no ICPS support, loads and loads of bureaucracy. But it's a *real* university.
PS: There are a lot more girls than boys here... In the TU (Tech Uni) there are almost no girls at all...

Clubs: a great deal of clubs are gathered in Kunstparkost near the Ostbahnhof in a old huge slaughterhouse and factory area. This gives a weird feeling for the place at first glance, sort of a chaotic urban vision in science-fiction movies.
But rather safe and not so wild after all. Most clubers there are teenagers thus making prices affordable. Can be very packed on week-ends.
More stylish and 'studentish' clubs can be found scattered around in the city. Gosh I hate this German Drum&bass they can feed you with all night long.
Pubs & Kneipen: nightlife is located mainly in the Schwabing and Münchner Freiheit districts north of the university but beware 'cause most bars close at 1 a.m during week-days and not later than 3 a.m on week-ends.
The typical atmosphere in a german kneipe is 'ruhig und gemütlich' with candles on tables. It Turns out to be dullish for me so I'd rather head to an Irish pub with good music such as the Günther or Shamrock.
Keller & Biergarten: Ah, now we're talking about the REAL Munich. Great beers, Oohm-pla-pla bands (check out Höfbräuhaus) and the Lederhosen guy serving you 12 Masses+ 9 Bretzels: a must of Munich!
Overall, Munich is a great place to enjoy at night although it's hard to find crazy places with crazy people like in Nice.
