Final comments
- Bus is cheap to go and visit the places around or even to go to London for a weekend
- University offers many trips or visits very cheap..it is also a good way to meet new people
- Liverpool is closed to Ireland so take the opportunity to go there
- If you need advice, ask at the university administration or to the teacher in charge of your exchange programme, they are always ready to help
- The last but not the least, spend most of your time with English-speaking people and not only people from your country or you will not improve your language skills at all...in that case it is better to stay at home !

Academic
Course recommendations
What I really appreciated was the availability teachers have for students. Lessons are given in small groups and you are not just a student, teachers know your name. This does not happen frequently in France.

Personal comments
The fact that I lived with British girls and in a residence where there were only 3 French students helped me to make progress. At university too, I met people and after talking with them for many months I could see the improvements I had made.

Personal spending habits
The city of my host country at that time was Aix-en-Provence which is very expensive so housing did not change a lot. About nightlife, I do not drink too much which made me save a bit of money.

Grants help quite much. But it is also easy for students to find a job in England in pubs, clubs etc.

British campus are much better than the French ones. They offers kind of houses or appartments that you share with students from many nationalities (for my part i had asked for British girls). Rooms are big enough and you can even have a bathroom in your bedroom. You share the lounge/kitchen with your flatmates so that you can talk and share good moments with them.

There are many pubs and bars around the JMU. In the city centre you can find different types of places: pubs, cocktail places etc. Everyone needs to find out the kind of places he/she prefers to go.
