Activities, Nightlife, Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal social experience
Personal comments
Tivoli and Doris are the best places to go out. Both free and have 1 euro beer on wednesday. Both free till 11 or 12 on Saturday. Doris is generally more expansive, but the crowd could be better for some. Check both out. Participate in sports that are offered by University. There are really a lot to choose from. Travelling can be costly, since the town is up the North, but do go to Sweden.

Why?
Kuntotie is a fantastic place for international students. I'd love to come back there again. If you're to study at University of Lapland, select to live in Kuntotie.

Personal comments
Everything but the people, who lived there, was actually below my expectations. However we managed to have a fantastic international community, so I was very pleased with housing.

Academic
Course recommendations
Many courses are "get the books, read the books, do exam", so no classes. That's extremely disappointing. Try to take classes even if you're not necessary interested just if they have lectures. It can be fun and you can drop out at any time. The library is huge and very useful, so use it!
