“I would recommend this place for learning majors of job”

The quality of the learning environment here is very good and I think it corresponds to the amount of money spent. The teaching programs are really effective and can help international students like me work smoothly in a Japanese school. The point that impressed me the most was the modernity of the equipment the school provided and the buildings looked truly majestic and modern in the style of luxury places. Also Japanese students will more or less talk to you although this is not too much. Teachers and everyone are very enthusiastic and friendly

Every month there will be announcements about whether you can get an internship at different companies and before graduation around April there will be contracts or big companies coming here to find interested students and recruitment

The Japanese I met here are REALLY different from those I met back in my home university. School bureaucracy can be a huge headache too.

I think the best thing about this school is that there are people from all over the world and I have had a great time meeting them. Unless you are a white (or obviously foreign looking) male, you probably need to make some effort in meeting the Japanese students. School staff are not very helpful and seem to like taking students into "disciplinary actions", which is quite highschool-ish. Besides that I have had a good time at Kansai Gaidai.

Travel!! The school is at this wonderful location right between Osaka and Kyoto. The school have a lot more international students from the US than anywhere else, and the profs are basically all from the US. If you are not from the US it can get a little irritating because of the America-oriented viewpoint in most occasions and classes.

that the caliber of the international students would be so low... that my host family would take advantage of the homestay program and not feed me...

Stay home! Or go to a more prestigious Japanese institution with a better academic program! Also, Hirakata City is very lame.

If you end up at Kansai Gaidai, take advantage of all of the free time your easy classes will provide you and do some traveling. Kansai is a great region to be in. Kyoto, Kobe, and Osaka have tons to explore. Head down to Mount Koya-san and stay at a temple in the forest. Check out the untrammeled byways of Shikoku. Take a Shinkansen down to Hiroshima or in the other direction to Tokyo. During a longer break you could head as far as Okinawa or Hokkaido, or perhaps even to another Asian destination like Seoul or Bangkok.

It wouldnt be highly recommended if you want to have a closer touch with the city life because Kansai Gaidai is located in a rather remote area which is 60 min bus- plus train-ride from the city center.

If you're planning on studying in Japan and you don't know how to ride a bike, you'd better learn it before you get there!
