Getting a cellphone really costs a lot! Japanese cellphone companies give very little talk time in a plan. (a 4000 yen plan gave me only 66 minutes free talking), then there's other crap services thrown in which caused my bill to be around $100 a month! Also, taking the train and bus is costly as you go further out. In general, Japan is expensive!! Do NOT underestimate it. Every international student who I talked to, agrees with me.

Course recommendations
The course I had was fine but there is no drop period, some of my friends were forced to take classes that don't transfer, not many to choose from. Japanese class is 90 minutes long. Workers are iclueless and mean.

My friend recommended this program. It was nothing like he told me. Overall, I had fun, but it wasn't because of the program. I planned to stay two semesters but I can't wait to get out of here.

My host parents cannot speak english, spanish or french only japanese. At first i was really afraid of it because japanese is completly different from french or english. But they were so kind. After 4 months, i could speak japanese (normal conversation).

Food is quite expensive here (eps. the produce). The telephones in the rooms don't make outgoing classes, so that solves that problem. Accomidations are a bit more expensive, but I live in a cheap city to live in. I go out less here then I do at home, so I spend about the same. Travel is expensive, but worth it.
