Plenty of clubs and bars in Osaka, which is around 30 mins away from the city. Hirakata City itself is pretty boring.

THIS SCHOOL IS GEARED TOWARDS LEARNING JAPANESE!!!! Please don't make the same mistake I did. If you only have a passing interest in learning Japanese, this school is probably not going to work for you. I've been having to spend clost to 4 hours a night working only on my japanese course and i'm still not doing well in it.
The other classes are for me are quite interesting. I would suggest checking out Sumi-e as it's my favorite.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
My experiences in the dorm was beyond unique. To this day, I remain in contact with people from ALL over the world. Potluck dinners representing various cultural traditions, excellent community of friends, scholastic environment, and accomodations and resources that put my experiences in China to shame...I couldn't have been happier to move out of my homestay back into the dorms.

Housing
Type of housing: Off campus, dorms
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I am still in Japan and living in a boarding house with both Japanese and foreign students -- this has improved my speaking skills better than living in Gaidai housing ever could.

Personal comments
Housing was far from the university, and in the middle of effectively nowhere, leaving students to spend money on buses constantly if they wanted to get anywhere. Staff in three of the four seminar houses are rude and unhelpful, and, while living far from town, foreign students live together, thus hindering the effort to live abroad and learn the language.
