Well, in Szeged you MUST learn some Hungarian in order to cope in the everyday situations. The students at the university speak good English, but when you go shopping, eating out, to library/post office etc., they don't speak English. But I thik it's also a good thing, because you really learn to use Hungarian!

Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
An apartment with two rooms for two persons was good. At the same time I got to speak some Hungarian with my flatmate.

I had a really nice landlord who helped me when I had some practical problems at the apartment. The apartment was near to the university in a calm neighbourhood. No complaints.

Well as for the phone, cos I really needed my mobile to stay in touch with the other students, while at home I dont use it much. For the rest, the cost of life for most things is much lower than in Italy, especially for food it is like half! We went to eat out really often cos we could have a good meal at a good restaurant for the equivalent of 5-6 euros!!!

Jate Klub is the place to go, that's the place whre you can meet your fellow students outside the school, besides it's a really good nightclub and bar! We went to Jate basically every week, and did not go to many other bars, but who needs them!

The average costs are much lower than in Germany. Only in food i had almost the same expenses, because I always went eating in the restaurants.

A hungarian student card cuts train travels by 66%! Students travel cheaper in 1st class trains than in 2nd class! (Szeged - Budapest, 2 1/2hrs => 4 Euro!).

We couldn't be hosted in dorms so we were helped to find private apartments to rent. It wasn't so easy but it was a good experience, to learn how to deal with a rent contract and to share the apartment with another person.
