I chose to room with foreigners, but French foreigners and we speak spanish together. This was perfect I think. If I had of taken courses with mexicans, I would have made friends there, and then still came home to my friends, who speak the same as me, and who understand everything, and want to do the same things as you...EVERYTHING.

Travel, because I went somewhere as much as I can. Gotta see this beautiful country. Nightlife is kinda expensive here. Wed is ladies night though, free entrance and drinks most places. Telephone...so expensive. If you get a cellular be careful, I know two people who "lost" theirs this semester. Don't call home, have them call you in general. I grocery shop at Wal-mart. Don't be deceived. Mexico is not cheap (in the city). Maybe 10% less than in Canada in general. Electronics are much more expensive. CDs are SO CHEAP!

Get a Scotia Bank account. They don't charge you to withdrawl from your account in Canada from here. If not, it is like $3 each time. TAMPONS, bring them from home. Expensive and hard to find.

Si j'avais su
If you have big feet (size )9 1/2- 10 womens, you CANT buy shoes here. I need shoes bad. No shorts. People only wear jeans here. I dyed my hair brown so people would stop bothering me and stop treating me like a slut (they think all N. Americans are easy). Bring more pants and sweaters...it isn't that hot here. Make the first move. YOU have to talk to mexicans, and make friends with them. They won't do it with you first. Take initiative, even if it is so hard. And once again, life is not cheap. Mex. girls are not easy (at all) and you have to pay for everything if you are the guy.

Recommandations de cours
They make you take the placement test. If you place in Basic or Int. they only let you take english courses, but you can sign a form if you want to be able to take courses in spanish. DO IT! Even if it is challenging. I placed in Basic 2, and there is NO REASON that I could not have taken spanish courses. You know your own abilities better than any test. Take the hard road. If not you'll be so disappointed.

Commentaire personnel
Business courses are SO EASY. Culture, history and Politics tend to have more work, and homework. Take courses with mexicans to meet them, otherwise you won't. Take courses in Spanish, even IP courses. You can do it. They are hard to fail.

Best night club is BOSSE on Fridays (real chic), Walstreet on Tuesdays, La Marche is always good for free drinks. Travelling is the best...every weekend. Manzanillo is 4 hrs, Puerto Vallarta only 5hrs on bus. Everything is close to Guadalajara. The only disappointing this is that I HAVE NO MEXICAN FRIENDS. The school is kinda snotty, guys everywhere only want to sleep with you, and mexican girls seem kind of competitive with you. I am quite diappointed I don't have any good friends that are native, but I have the best exchange friends.

Logement
Type de logement: Appartement/maison
Organisé par: Indépenant - choix personnel
Si j'y retournais je choisirais: Appartement/maison
Pourquoi?
It is by far the cheapest option. No one tells you what to do, and you can eat whatever you want, or have parties at your apt. if you want. Visitors are also much easier to keep in your own apartment, because if you rent a room, they'll want to charge you for anyone who stays the night.

Residence is RIDICULOUS! Way to expensive, no girl/guy mix (not even visitors), no food. Host families usually start well, but they always go rotton. Apartment is the way to go. My apt. was beautiful. 2000 pesos per month shared.
