Overall
I wish I had known...
In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
I really liked it - especially the group I was working in was great (Liquid Crystals Reasearch Group at the Department of Chemistry). I could do my research there independent, which was a new and interesting experience for me (in germany we are normally supervised by a PhD student)

Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
I think my time in London was the best time of my studies.
The only really annoying thing was to find accomodation. The best to find a flatshare is to look in the Internet on the "Student contact list" on the page of the University of London Accomodation Office.

Personal spending habits
Most things cost twice as much (even if my home town is expensive as well). Exannge rates for Euro - Pound are bad at the moment.

Accomodation and travelling is really expensive in London. Most times I took my bicycle, so could save some money (a weekly travecard for the underground costs a least 15 Pounds)

Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
It's the cheapest. It's easy to meet other students.

The accomodation office was no help at all! The college halls are Ok, but during term time it isn't easy for foreign students to get a room there.
