I have learned very much Spanish by studying at ICADE, which also was one of my main goals when going abroad. people were very friendly overall and always wanted to help and understand even though it was not the easiest inthe beginning....I am very pleased with my stay at ICADE and in madrid and I felt that my language has improved a lot.

Spanish lessons are made available to foreign-language students either prior to the commence of term (in the case of dual-degree students) or during the first semester for ERasmus students. There is an exam prior to the commence of these classes and you are streamed according to your result.

I started speaking english to most people I met in the beginning (as they were mostly foreign students). But I quickly started dreaming in spanish and the day-to-day made the rest. I'm sure now that if you only know the basic phrases and grammar while arriving in the country you can be at ease in 2 or 3 months in most situations.
