I studied in the Netherlands where most of the people speak english fluently. I didn´t find it necessary to start studying dutch as local seemed to be communicate in english almost as well as in their own native language. Anyway I learned some basics of dutch and in the future when I´m going back to study to the Netherlands I will be more willing to learn dutch also.

When there are many different nationalities and most of the people have never lived away from their parents before this experience it is understandable that there are problems but the security of the accomodation could be better.
