Most often I used english, as it was the instruction language! I also followed a french course, to refresh my skills in french, but in fact you don't necessarily need french in everyday life.

It was incredibly cheap, well located and with a lot of space, because it was a new opening residence with low demand. Next year prices will be much higher.
