Course recommendations
Getting to know the country was for both the teachers as for us the most important thing during this course. So even some fellow-students who went to Wladiwostok for 3 weeks graduated (ok, they got a B instead of an A).

Housing
Type of housing: hotel for non-russian students
Arranged by: Host university

Expenses
Main source of funding:
Personal savings
Other sources of funding:
none
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
I spent more on the phone cause I regularly phoned to The Netherlands. Inside Russia, the phone would be as expensive as a local call within The Netherlands. Overall, life was cheaper that in Holland.

Personal comments
In '95 there were almost no cash dispensers in Russia (there was 1 in St. Petersburg and 2 in Moscow). When I returned in '98, the situation had inproved greatly. It is now not too difficult to get money from home, as long as you stay in the main cities.

“Classical education - outdated approaches”
Kseniia F
Russia, Undergraduate
Philology, 2017
Overall
University provides a good theoretical basis in many subjects, but as far as I know, in most of programs you wouldn't be taught the latest information about a field. In my deprtment most of professors were quite conservative and used traditional teacheing approaches and technics, which is not very effective for people of my age. The good thing about it though, that all of us had to do a lot of self-education and also think out of the box to get good career opportunities after this education.

Final comments
going by plane is as expensive as by train - so fly! And don't forget to fill out the paper in the plane that you don't carry drugs, weapons, diamonds or other goods to declare.
