Personal comments
When I arrived in France, I had already and advanced, but not fluent, level in French. My main hope was to be able to improve it as much as I could. However, language classes offered by the schools are bad and most of the French speakers wanted me to speak in English or Spanish with them. However, it was useful, afterwards I learned vocabulary and they started to teach me how to speak in the correct way.

Paris is a wonderful city, but studying at HEC is not the same as living in Paris, you have to be prepared to life at campus to enjoy it. However, you will ofcourse have opportunities to explore the amazing attributes of Paris, although not to the extent you might first think.

HEC is one of the leading business school in Europe. The academical life is good and very french oriented. For international students at Graduate level, I will recommand to follow the major Management International. A trully international class with good professors. The rest, you will enjoy it.

As cost-saving tips, only one simple advice: stay on campus as much as it is possible. You will save a lot on food, drinks, telephone bills. A cheaper supermaket is just 500m from the campus, do your shopping in Attac.

The price level in France is a bit lower than in Norway, so mostly everything felt somehow cheaper, though to a varying degree.

If you study in France you might be eligible to a an accomodation support from the French authorities, the socalled CAF. Requires quite a bit of administrative work, but is worth it if you finally get it.
