Personal spending habits
At home I did not pay rental fee. Food is more expensive in Budapest. I did not have that much nightlife in Baku. There is no "monthly pass" system in Baku you pay on the spot, therefore more on travel.

Final comments
Surf the internet. No dormitories. In budapest flats are cheapper. Learn cooking if you dont know it is also good for money saving. Study basic words in Magyar.

Hungarian is a difficult language to be learned in less than a year. I know only basic phrases. My language of instruction was English - with which I had no problems during my Masters studies.
