I went there to learn the language. In two months you can really learn a great deal if you study intensively and do make friends with the chinese students.

I wish I had known...
The acceptance letters look like crap, but they're official. I wish I had known more about the university and that they would have sent me a course schedule beforehand.

Don't buy international plane tickets from china, they're really expensive. It was fun to go to shanghai by train, you should try it.

Academic
Course recommendations
The books suck, they don't teach you the chinese you really need in real life. Finding a tutor is easy and I recommend it, you can supplement your curriculum. If you think the classes are too easy it's really hard to skip to a higher class, but it's worth it.

I lived there only for a while. I thought it wasn't too bad, I expected worse. We had washing machines, even though nothing really washed clean.. But other foreigners had trouble adjusting. And life without airconditioning can be rough.
