Take advantage of the European version of Euro-rail. It is far cheaper and flexible than the american eurorail pass.

Make sure you buy a bike if you live in Freiburg. Plan on writing a lot of letters, that will help with homesickness and cost of telephone bills. Be open-minded and do as much as you can!

Forget those rail passes. Most of the trains are less than the rates for the passes. Do your best to interact with all the cultures.

A fantastic universitz

Having studied at home n the USA and abroad in the UK as well as here, I can say simply love this university.  As with nearly anything German the bureaucracy is maddening but the faculty is fantastic, the programs offered are varied and fun, and the facilities are well kept and modern.  I would recommend this university to anyone, and I would say that it's location in Freiburg is second to none.

My opinion is that, Albert-Ludwig Unisersity of Freiburg is by far one of the best Unversities in Germany, if not across Europe.

I must also state that the University has created an enabling environment for learning, and that makes it stand out among its peers.
Thank you.

Pros
Teaching and learning is top notch.
Cons
one disadvantage is that, some of the programmes are very intensive, and that sometimes has a toll on students.

If you are looking to have a good time, go to Freiburg...if you are trying to advance academically, try a different University with less exchange students.
