Plateau-Mont Royal in Montreal is full of cafes and restaurants. Please don't miss the International Jazz Festival of Montreal, the disco called 'Rouge' and the small shops there. Also, you can go shopping in downtown, with many many shops.

I wish I had known...
I should have learnt French perfectly. And I should have visited more lakes in summer. And I should have been concerned about my project at university.

Go and try to learn French before. It is not very difficult to have relations with foreign students and you will have colleagues from different cultures which is really good to remove old prejudices
